Medway 11+ Test

If you would like your child to be considered for a Medway grammar school, they will need to sit the Medway 11+ test. 

A child can take the Medway 11+ even if they do not live in Medway. 

 

What is the test made up of?

 

The test consists of 3 papers:

- Extended Writing

- Maths 

- Verbal Reasoning 

 

How is the exam marked?

 

Extended writing is marked on spelling, punctuation, grammar, wide vocabulary and content. The format varies but in the past has included story, letter and review for example. This paper is worth 40% of the final result and is marked by an examiner. 

 

Maths is a multiple choice question paper including but not limited to the following mathematical topics: number, measurement, geometry, ratio and proportion, algebra, and statistics. This paper is worth 40% of the final result and is marked by a computer. 

 

Verbal Reasoning is a multiple choice question paper examining skill in words and language. The Medway Verbal Reasoning has a high reading component including comprehension, cloze activities and standard VR question types. This paper is worth 20% of the final result and is marked by a computer.
